Our brewmaster Andrea Frigerio’s most recent creation, Birra Roma Chiara, is a flavourful pilsner inspired by the city of Rome, its rich culture and, most of all, its exquisite food. After all, to know a place you must eat and drink as the local people do.
Andrea trained as a chef before finding his calling in the art of Italian brewing. Andrea has drawn on his passion for Italian cooking and gastronomy to create Birra Roma Chiara – a refreshing beer bursting with flavour designed to perfectly pair with the very best of Italian cooking and local Roman specialties, from Pizza to Porchetta.
The historic archaeological location of the small Birradamare craft brewery on the “Isola Sacra” meant getting Birra Roma Chiara to lovers of Italian food all around the world would be challenging, so the search began for the perfect partner to make this possible. Andrea collaborated with the award-winning brewers at the Pivovar Smichov brewery. Located in the Czech Republic and with over a century of brewing experience, the Smichov team worked to make Andrea’s vision a reality. Andrea continues to sample the brews back in Rome to ensure the high quality that his recipe demands.
